| well, it has been a while since i typed a blog and i guess i should give everybody, especially you baby, something to read.
School is going well, just crazy fucking busy and mind numbing at many times. I love my latin, but it's WAY more intensive then last year. We have been reading passages from suetonius, who is a latin author that lived about 100 years after Julius Caesar. Suetonius writing a biography about Caesar especially the early parts of his life. So we get to read about how Caesar's family name Julii was descending from God's, how Caesar was captured by pirates and how he hunted down and killed them. We also got to read about the slander written about the flower of Caeser being spoiled(literally translated) by a Bithynian King named Nicomedes. We also have gotten to read about Caesar's love affairs with many men's wives both in Rome and in the Provinces and with Cleopatra. Now we have started the actually Commentaries on the Gaelic War written by Caesar himself. It is really enjoyable and interesting but very hard at times.
I made a resolution to myself to start writing my thesis by the first of October, well that didnt happen tonight because i had papers to grade and such, but i am only giving myself a 3 day grace period before i just bite the bullet and do it.
I was able to give my first lecture in the History of Christianity. I gave it on the life and theology of St. Augustine. So if anybody ever wants to learn about St. Augustine i will be more then happy to oblige. The next lecture i am going to give will be on Thomas Aquinas and his method and proof of the existence of God. I am looking forward to it.
I am also doing a directed reading on the topic on the relationship between Church and state in Medieval Europe. It is very interesting, and the professor i am doing it with is fucking brilliant on the subject so it makes it all that more enjoyable.
I also just got finished with my first set of 70 papers to grade for the class i am a Graduate Assistant for. Some were good others, were very average. One of the biggest problems is everybody and their damn brother felt it necessary to use some form of "I, we, our, you" in their paper and on may to many occasions. If i am reading your paper I do not care what your opinion is, do not include me in your collective we and our because i am pretty damn sure i dont agree with you, and dont demand that i do anything while reading your paper other then read it. You shouldn't expect me to take anything thing. I mean if i told you to "take for example" something, im gunna do it nicer then demand it. Also if the professor repeatedly tell you that the paper should be 2 FULL PAGES, should you not write 2 FULL PAGES? It isnt rocket science and dont try and fuck with the margins or the heading to make 2 full pages, because im gunna catch you and be a dick about it. 2 full pages isn't that fucking hard seriously.
Well there is my little rant for the day, other that things are going well, and i get to see my beautiful Lowy in 1 week and 3 days. YEA!!!

| well i had my wisdom teeth out exactly a week ago. For the most part my mouth doesnt hurt to bad any more but there is still some pain. I can't say it was one of the high points of my life, but it was neccessary and hopefully the headaches they were giving me will stop. I came to work today, friday and i really dont have anything to do because my boss isnt here or the lady i share an office with so im just kinda hanging out. I actually wish i had just called in, because my mouth still hurts a bit I have been reading a bit, but not nearly enough i need to step that up. I know i keep saying that but it should happen this time. I am really looking forward to school again, this getting up at 7am fucking blows. Only 3 weeks left of work i think, so it really shouldnt be to bad. The only thing that will suck about school starting again is leaving laurie again. We have gotten nice and comfortable living with each other, it just seems normal now. I will be sad because i wont get to see her beautiful face every morning when i wake up and get kisses before i head to work. The only thing i wont miss is her bed, sorry baby but you know i think its like sleeping on a damn board. i really dont have anything else worthwhile to say so uh joel | | |
| Who says good things dont come to those who wait, or slack off on finding a job and have one handed to you=p. I am currently working for the Kansas State Board of Cosmetology. My offical title is Summer intern, but i have been doing some graphic work, i created their newsletter. I have stuffed alot of envelopes and currently i am doing some research. It's a rather nice job, my boss is really cool. It's a very nice and laid back environment. I have also realized that i can't do a 8 to 5 in the corporate/office/cubicle setting. As much as i like the job i feel like im selling a little bit of my soul everyday or maybe thats just the lack of sleep and having to get my ass out of bed every morning at 7am. Im not entirely certain. I also need to step up my research for my thesis, i have been slacking on it a little to much this summer. I have only made it through a maybe 2 books. I am really looking forward to school starting again, i really miss it. The only thing that will suck about heading back to school though is i will be away from laurie for another semester, but at least that will be remedied shortly after. I have also been tutoring a high school kid in US History, which has been interesting. The period we covered was basically from reconstruction up through the depression and stopped right before WWII. I had to brush back up on my US history especially that period because it had been a while since i studied it. However, i think it all went well and he is gunna take his final test tommorow and he should pass. Im also working as a secretary saturday mornings at my friend Ryan's State farm agency. So any of you kansas residents that need any sort of insurance, Ryan is a good State Farm agent that i would highly recommend. I have to get my wisdom teeth out on July 20th, which as masocistic as it sounds im really looking forward to. Currently, they are coming and and giving me headaches and other unpleasant things. That is about the extent of things. Im even more paranoid of salons and other things now that i work for the Board, joel | | |
| I got all done with school, i have my reading list for the summer, i am living with a beautiful and amazing women and i am poor as fuck because i dont have a job yet. That is the way it goes, the goal for the week is to find a job that pays me and i dont have to do anything horrible.
I need to start reading this week also and get on all the books i have currently checked out from the KU library, because i have a long summer of research ahead of me, which i am actually looking forward too.
I finally got my computer set up today, which is kinda nice. Not alot else to really report
Oh and i get to start tutoring math tommorow
